76ers Dominate Knicks 120-97 in Season Opener
The Philadelphia 76ers showcased their formidable depth in a decisive 120-97 victory over the New York Knicks at the Xfinity Mobile Arena to open the regular season.
Philadelphia established a commanding 14-point lead by halftime (72-58) and maintained that advantage, entering the fourth quarter with a 93-79 cushion. The game's largest swing occurred in the second quarter, which the Sixers dominated 39-26.
Crucially, Philadelphia's bench outscored New York's 77-63, providing a significant offensive spark. The Sixers also boasted a 29-23 assist advantage and shot 35% from three-point range (16-of-46), while the Knicks struggled mightily, converting just 20% of their long-range attempts (8-of-41).
Jaylen Brown led the Sixers with 22 points, complemented by a double-double from reserve Jabari Walker, who added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Saint Thomas also delivered a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 boards. For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby paced the team with 12 points apiece, but it wasn't enough to counter Philadelphia's sustained offensive pressure.
The win puts the 76ers at 1-0 in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Knicks fall to 0-1.
