Juhasz Masterclass Seals Hungary's Narrow Win

Dorka Juhasz posted a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds, spearheading Hungary's hard-fought 71-67 triumph over Nigeria at the Max-Schmeling-Halle. Hungary established a ten-point lead by halftime, holding a 36-26 advantage, and maintained that 52-42 cushion entering the final period. Despite a late Nigerian surge, Hungary held firm to secure the win. The Hungarians shot an efficient 51% from the field compared to Nigeria's 35%, though they committed 23 turnovers. Nigeria's defence forced 15 steals, leading to 14 fast-break points, but they faltered at the free-throw line, converting just 52%. While Amy Okonkwo led Nigeria with 17 points and Elizabeth Balogun added 13, Juhasz's interior presence, complemented by Virag Takacs-Kiss's 17-point, 14-rebound double-double, proved decisive. This victory marks a significant statement for Hungary in the tournament.
