Hlynsdottir's Masterclass Lifts Iceland Over Italy

Berglind Hlynsdottir erupted for 32 points, including 25 in the second half, to spearhead Iceland to a dramatic 86-79 comeback win against Italy at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket.

Italy held a slim four-point lead at halftime, 34-30, but Iceland seized control with a decisive third quarter, outscoring their opponents 33-22 to enter the final period with a seven-point advantage, 63-56. This surge was significantly bolstered by Iceland's bench, which outscored Italy's reserves 51-21.

Despite strong showings from Emma Giacchetti, who finished with 20 points, and Emma Zuccon, who posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, Italy couldn't contain the momentum shift. Hlynsdottir, coming off the bench, also contributed 6 rebounds and 7 assists, while Sara Logadottir added 18 points. Iceland capitalized on Italy's 21 turnovers, converting them through 14 steals.

This significant victory serves as a powerful statement for Iceland in the tournament, showcasing their resilience and ability to secure wins through standout individual performances.
