Givance ignites Reims past Aix-Maurienne
Shamar Givance ignited the offence off the bench, pouring in 19 points and dishing out 4 assists to propel Châlons-Reims to a crucial 83-77 victory over Aix-Maurienne.
In a regular-season clash where both teams saw their Pro B Leaders Cup standings solidify, Châlons-Reims cemented their sixth-place position, while Aix-Maurienne remained fifteenth following this defeat.
The home side established a significant early advantage, building an 11-point lead in the first quarter that put Aix-Maurienne on the back foot. Although Aix showed resilience, cutting the deficit to 68-64 entering the final frame, Châlons-Reims held firm, having led by seven at halftime (49-42) to ultimately seal the contest.
Givance's impactful outing, coupled with Laolu Oke's 18 points and 7 rebounds, proved vital, particularly as Reims' bench contributed 35 points, matching Aix's reserve scoring.
For Aix-Maurienne, Rigo Edzata led the scoring with 17 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Reims' timely execution, despite the visitors' 27 assists as a team.
