Knicks Steal Game 1 in San Antonio
The New York Knicks have kicked off their NBA Finals campaign with a crucial 105-95 road victory over the San Antonio Spurs, taking a 1-0 series lead at the Frost Bank Center. After trailing by seven points at halftime (55-48), the Knicks found their footing, battling back to a 76-76 tie entering the final quarter. It was there that the game swung decisively, with New York outscoring San Antonio 29-19 in the closing twelve minutes to seal the win. The Spurs struggled mightily with their shooting, converting just 36% from the field (32/89) and a dismal 26% from three-point range (11/43), while the Knicks capitalized on a 20-8 turnover advantage. Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs charge with 26 points and 12 rebounds, complemented by Dylan Harper's 16 points off the bench and Julian Champagnie's double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. However, New York's balanced effort, anchored by Karl-Anthony Towns' 18 points and 12 rebounds and OG Anunoby's 17 points, proved too much. Josh Hart also made a significant impact with 15 rebounds and 6 assists. The Knicks now lead the series 1-0, placing immediate pressure on the Spurs heading into Game 2.
