Doncic's 52-point outburst keeps Lakers perfect
Luka Doncic delivered a career-defining performance, dropping 52 points and dishing out 10 assists to guide the Los Angeles Lakers to a hard-fought 132-123 victory over the Utah Jazz, preserving their perfect 3-0 start to the season.
Though holding a slim three-point lead at halftime (71-74) and entering the fourth quarter (100-103), the Lakers found another gear. The Jazz, who suffered a significant second-quarter swing of -21 (24-45), could never fully recover. Los Angeles capitalized on their long-range shooting, hitting 20 of 47 threes (43%), while Utah struggled from deep, converting just 10 of 35 attempts (29%).
Keyonte George was a standout for the Jazz, recording a double-double with 24 points and 10 assists, alongside Ace Bailey's own double-double effort of 17 points and 12 rebounds. However, Doncic's offensive onslaught, which also included 8 rebounds, proved too much to overcome. Austin Reaves provided crucial support with 29 points for the Lakers. Bench scoring was nearly even, with Los Angeles holding a slight 27-26 edge.
The win solidifies the Lakers' hold on first place in the Western Conference, while the Jazz fall to 11th at 1-2.
