Pistons Seize Series Lead
The Detroit Pistons seized a 1-0 lead in their Conference Semifinal series with a 111-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit established control early, building a 16-point advantage in the first quarter and carrying a 13-point lead into halftime (59-46). Although the Cavaliers trimmed the deficit to seven entering the fourth quarter (83-76), Detroit held firm to secure the win.
The Pistons capitalised on 19 Cleveland turnovers, converting them into 27 points while committing only 11 themselves. Tobias Harris led the charge with 20 points and 8 rebounds, complemented by Jalen Duren's 11 points and a double-double of 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Ausar Thompson also chipped in with 11 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists.
For Cleveland, James Harden poured in 22 points and dished out 7 assists, while Evan Mobley added 14 points and 9 rebounds. The Cavaliers' bench, spurred by Max Strus' 19 points, contributed 35 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
With this win, the Pistons now lead the series 1-0, putting immediate pressure on the Cavaliers to respond in the next contest.
