Serbia Edges Sweden in Overtime Thriller
Serbia snatched a dramatic 79-70 overtime victory against Sweden at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket. The contest, held at the Alytus Arena, swung decisively in the extra period, with Serbia outscoring their opponents 15-6 to seal the win. Sweden had held a slim one-point lead at halftime (29-28), and Serbia only clung to a one-point advantage entering the fourth quarter (47-46).
Despite a colossal double-double from Sweden's Lourdes Da Silva Costa, who posted 22 points and 16 rebounds, and 18 points from Ebba Jagre, the Swedish effort ultimately fell short. Serbia's bench proved pivotal, contributing 35 points compared to Sweden's 12. Imana Cosovic spearheaded Serbia with her own double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds, complemented by 18 points from reserve Aleksandra Aleksic. Serbia's superior free-throw shooting, converting 83% (19/23) to Sweden's 63% (17/27), was a significant factor. This overtime triumph serves as a powerful statement for Serbia in the tournament.
