Emma Zuccon delivered a towering performance, amassing 21 points and a remarkable 20 rebounds, to steer Italy to a gritty 77-68 overtime triumph over Slovenia at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket.
Italy held a slim four-point lead at halftime (32-28), but Slovenia, fuelled by Tjasa Turnsek's 26 points and Lena Grebenc's 20, surged ahead to lead by three entering the final period (48-45). The Slovenians, however, could not close it out.
The decisive swing occurred in overtime, where Italy outscored Slovenia 13-4. Zuccon's dominance on the glass, coupled with Italy's 44% field goal efficiency compared to Slovenia's 38%, and a significant 23-6 advantage in bench scoring, proved pivotal. Emma Giacchetti also dished out 9 assists.
