Tomaszkiewicz Leads Poland to Dominant Victory
Patrycja Tomaszkiewicz orchestrated a dominant display, steering Poland to a commanding 86-67 victory over Iceland at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket.
Poland seized control early, establishing an 11-point lead by halftime (46-35) and extending that advantage to 16 points entering the final quarter. While Iceland saw Berglind Hlynsdottir come off the bench for 21 points, and Sara Logadottir add 15 points, their efforts were insufficient to counter Poland's sustained pressure.
Poland leveraged a significant 46-24 rebounding advantage, and despite committing 22 turnovers, their 47% field goal efficiency proved decisive. Tomaszkiewicz's 14 rebounds and five assists, coupled with Maria Burliga's 16-point, 11-rebound double-double, sealed the win. Martyna Glowczak also chipped in with eight assists.
This strong showing by Poland establishes a significant statement of intent within the tournament, showcasing their ability to dictate play and execute effectively.
