In a tournament where every game carries weight, the Azzurrini seized control early, establishing a 12-point lead in the first quarter that they never relinquished.

By halftime, Italy held a commanding 22-point advantage (59-37), their offensive efficiency evident in a sharp 54% field goal shooting (33/61) compared to Romania's 34% (24/70). The impact of Italy's reserves was immense, contributing 63 points to Romania's 32. Entering the final period with a substantial 30-point cushion (85-55), Italy managed the closing stages with composure.
