Smazak Masterclass Powers Czechia Rout

Lukas Smazak delivered a commanding performance, netting 25 points to steer Czechia to a decisive 93-66 victory over Romania at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket.

In the tournament contest, Czechia seized control early, holding a 10-point lead at halftime and extending that advantage to 16 points entering the final quarter.

The Czech side truly asserted their dominance in the second quarter, outscoring Romania 34-21 to build a significant cushion. Their cohesive play resulted in 17 assists against 19 turnovers, complemented by a strong rebounding effort with 41 boards to Romania's 33, and 12 steals. Czechia's bench also provided a substantial boost, contributing 36 points. While Romania's Codrut Dinu impressed with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, and David Fintina chipped in 12 points off the bench, their efforts fell short. Czechia, who shot an exceptional 90% from the free-throw line (36/40), sealed their win with a potent offensive display, particularly from Smazak, who was supported by Sebastian Kremen's 14 points.
