Ozek's All-Around Game Lifts Türkiye Past Italy

Kadriye Erva Ozek orchestrated a crucial victory for Türkiye, driving them to a 59-53 win over Italy at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket.

Türkiye built an 11-point halftime lead, taking a 26-15 advantage into the break, and extended that margin to 18 points, 45-27, entering the final period.

However, Italy mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring Türkiye 26-14 in the frame to close the gap to six points, but ultimately fell short.

Despite struggling from three-point range at 1-of-27 (4%), Türkiye compensated with a commanding 50-43 rebounding advantage and 19 steals, though Italy's bench outscored Türkiye's 27-17.

Nisa Söylemez led all scorers with 20 points, while Ezgi Ulker recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. For Italy, Giulia Marinari poured in 22 points, but Ozek's all-around effort of 8 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 8 steals proved decisive.

The win provides significant momentum for Türkiye in the tournament.
