Monaco Crowned Champions: Strazel, Okobo Lead Title Charge
Monaco are the Betclic Elite champions, securing the title with a commanding 114-103 victory over Bourg-en-Bresse at the Ekinox arena to complete a 3-0 sweep in the quarter-final series.
Despite a valiant effort from Bourg, spearheaded by Adam Mokoka's 24 points and 7 rebounds, Monaco's superior shooting efficiency proved decisive, as they converted 55% of their field goals compared to Bourg's 43%. Monaco established a significant 16-point lead by halftime (49-65), and although Bourg fought back, they could not erase the deficit, entering the final period trailing by 10 (76-86).
Monaco's collective dominance was evident in their 45 rebounds and 29 assists, with Matthew Strazel orchestrating the offense with 22 points and 9 assists. Elie Okobo posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists, while Terry Tarpey also recorded a double-double, contributing 11 points and 13 rebounds. The bench depth for Monaco, which provided 34 points, proved too much for Bourg's reserves, who scored 29.
This triumph seals Monaco's status as Betclic Elite champions, concluding their season with the ultimate prize.
