Belgium Mounts Huge Comeback Against Croatia
Pauline Bayart spearheaded a stunning second-half surge as Belgium stormed back from a halftime deficit to defeat Croatia 84-67 at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket.
Croatia held a slender 40-33 lead at the break and, despite Belgium's efforts, clung to a one-point advantage entering the final quarter, 56-55. However, Belgium unleashed a decisive 28-12 run in the fourth to seize control and secure the victory.
Bayart's 21 points and nine rebounds were instrumental, complemented by 13 points from Noor Devos, as Belgium's bench contributed 17 points. Despite Petra Bozan's double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, and fellow double-double efforts from Lena Bilic (14 points, 11 boards) and Lea Vukic (10 points, 11 boards), Croatia couldn't withstand Belgium's late surge.
Belgium shot 41% from the field compared to Croatia's 35% and dished out 28 assists to Croatia's 17, while committing just six turnovers. This emphatic comeback win sends a strong message for Belgium's tournament aspirations.
