Aronov's 31 points power Israel past France
Aviv Aronov delivered a masterclass performance with 31 points to lead Israel to a commanding 91-77 victory over France at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket.
Both teams went into halftime locked at 39-39, but the game swung decisively in the third quarter. Israel established a 10-point lead, 69-59, entering the final period and never looked back, inflicting a significant defeat on France.
Aronov's offensive onslaught, coupled with David Musis's 25 points, proved too much for France, despite Hugo Yimga's 20 points. Israel shot a blistering 80% from the free-throw line (28/35) and recorded 10 steals, compared to France's 14 turnovers. While France's bench contributed 31 points, it wasn't enough to overcome Israel's 49% field goal efficiency.
This win stands as a statement performance for Israel in the tournament, signalling their championship aspirations.
