Canada completed a dramatic comeback to defeat the People's Republic of China 87-78 at the FIBA U17 World Cup, powered by a decisive fourth-quarter surge.
The Chinese led by five points at halftime, 42-37, and maintained that same five-point advantage entering the final period, holding a 63-58 lead. However, Canada unleashed a blistering 29-15 run to seize control and secure the victory.
Despite shooting just 33% from the field (31/95), Canada dominated the glass, outrebounding China 67-42, and committed only 8 turnovers. China's bench provided significant scoring with 37 points, but 13 turnovers and 12 blocked shots proved too much to overcome.
For China, Yizhaojie Zhang poured in 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while reserve Yuchen Zhang contributed 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Canada was anchored by Isaiah Clarke, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and a game-high 18 rebounds, with Isaiah Hamilton adding 19 points off the bench.
